I have a International 544 and would like to know what would be the biggest set of plows or other implements this tractor could pull. Also what would be the right size of frontend loader without having to make brackets so it would bolt on. I believe my tractor is the industrial model because it was painted red over the original yellow paint.

Some primer was yellow that IH used because red looked better when painted over yellow primer. Not sure when they did that but it might just be primer.

Eric: Don't let the yellow paint fool you. IH did use some yellow primer, most of it before the days of 544, however they may still have been using it in 544 days. The serial tag should tell you which you have. Besides an industrial 544 should have a model badge 2544. I gather it must be a Utility model with swept back front axle? Is there any print on the model badge besides 544.

It will pull a 3 bottom plow, 8' to 10' disk, IH loaders would have been 2000, 2001, 2350, possibly 2250. That 2001 is not the best having only one bucket cylinder. 2250 and 2350 are quick mount loaders. There are many other loaders that will fit with a bit of fabrication of mounting hardware, many of them better loaders than IH loaders.

Hugh, Don't discount the 2001 because of the one cylinder, this is an excellent design. The cylinder is hinged at the bottom back of the bucket which reverses its action, therefore its slower more powerful movement is the rollback. The angle between the clyinder pin and the boom pins is greatest at the top of the rollback which makes the bucket much easier to adjust at the higher positions of the stroke. You will really notice this when loading manure in the yards without cement, loading or unloading a truck or lifting something with a slow steady movement. I have a 2001 on my 41 H and a 2255 for the 684, The H still does the majority of the loader work. Have a good day, Chuck

Chuck: My dad bought a new 33A in 56, same idea. We were never very happy with that big cylinder. It was either breaking the bucket or frame at top of cylinder. I will admit the 2001 does look a bit more rugged.

Hugh, Never saw a 33A with hyd. bucket, didn't realize they use the same idea, but thought they were very light. Went fom the model 30 to the 2001 have not broke in 35 years.
