Well im still trying to get the old farmall regular running. I choke it. pour gas down the gas Tubes. Motor sounds like wants to run, smokes, back fires occasionaly . then all smoke and everything goes away. pour more gas down the gas tubes. starts over again. Fuel problem??? first tractor restoration so im new to these old tractors. Thanks Kuzma

One more thing to think about. are any of your valves "hanging"? If any of the valves are not closing all the way, you could get that symptom also.

Check the direction that the mag distributor rotates and then make sure you have the spark plug wires in the corect firing order in that same direction. If not, the engine will fire on 2 cyclinders and make sounds like you describe. Yes, I am talking from experience!

I agree. check both the timing, and the firing order before you go any farther.

Also, how far apart did you have this when you say you rebuilt it? Did you have the cam out? do you have the cam/crank timing correct?

thoughts on things to check.

Timing is critical,Find your proper timing mark.Mag should click at mark.TDC should be when the piston is all the way up and right before the piston starts down,If the timing is late this will caues low compression becaues the piston has started down,If its early the motor will kick back.BE CAREFULL
