Was working ground with the 1486 on Sunday using 1st gear and tractor quit moving. Thought maybe the tractor had popped out of gear but could not get it to go back in so I had to go up a gear to 2nd to finish the job. The tractors transmission sure is a lot quieter running in 2nd. Anyone have any ideas on what my problem might be?
Thanks for any assistance.

I would make a educated guess and say that probably the nut came off of the countershaft in the TA section and the shaft slipped ahead and then you lose first gear. Hope i'm wrong but hope this gives you a clue.

If the nut came off the countershaft, would the TA still work? Reason I ask is that I had been running the TA in high in 1st and when I had to move up to 2nd, I had to shift to the low side of the TA.

Did you go back and try 1st again?

Are ya sure that the TA just didn't go into the "free and easy" mode? :>)
