The tractor is split and I have some oil on the clutch and flywheel. I believe most, if not all of the oil, is running out of the valve cover and down into the clutch area.

I removed the flywheel last night. Behind the fly wheel, there is a hub. Should I replace a seal in this area while working on the clutch replacement? Are these prone to leaking? The backside of the flywheel does not have much oil. Thanks.

Will do. Thanks. I just looked it over. Looks like the top and bottom unbolt separately and it slides off the hub shaft in two peices (one up and one down). It has a casting with a flat, horizontal seal of some sort though the center. It has a lot of bolts in the houseing.

Thanks. How difficult is it to replace the rear main seal? I need to take another look at it because it seemed to bolt in different than I would expect.

The flywheel is at the shop. He measured the step and it is currently at 1.412. He said it is close, but he would true it to 1.406 and turn it. It will then be ready tomorrow.
