I have read that the the transmission takes 4 quarts. No problem. The lubrication chart in the manual says 5 with belt pulley option.
Is this fifth quart added in with the other 4 or directly to the belt pulley where there is a filler plug?
Also if it is added thru the regular transmission fill point how is the belt pulley lubricated? Overflow?
Thanks in advance

There are oil galleys in the top of the transmission housing. The gears sling oil up into these channels and it then drains along the channels to lube the bearings and the PTO/belt pulley assembly. The belt pulley will eventually fill up from the transmsission, but it' best to put some oil in there when you change the oil. When the pulley housing is full, it just overflows back to the transmission housing.

If you are changing the gear lube you should drain the belt pully seperately using the small pipe plug on the bottom of that casting. You can refill the belt pully thru the plug in the top of that casting but it will gradually refill thru oil lines from the transmission. If your going to use the PTO for a mower or such I would pour a pint or so into the belt pully casting so it is lubricated right away. Oh, and you should change the lube in the final drives also if it hasn't been changed recently. Dave
