well, I took it off, and i found out that 2 of the pins that hold in a valve and spring have quite a bit of wear to them, everything else looked pretty good. I was wondering what the best way to check spring tension is. Also when i got the MCV off I was checking the slap of some of the gears in the case, and one of them has like a one-way clutch on it, and it clicked one click when i moved it a little...and it wouldn't go back. Wondering if i messed something up doing that. I was also wondering what the best way to check the pump out would be without putting everything back into the tractor..... dont really want to do all this again if the pump is going bad.

I forgot to answer your question about the clicking gear. that must of been the TA gear and you were turning the sprag clutch. you didn't hurt anything. Ed

Hello,
I am not sure what you are working on. but I agree with kevin. I alway replace all springs and gaskets when I take off the MCV valve. I have a gasket kit with springs for around $52. as far as the pump if you think it is bad you can take it apart and look at the gears and housing. if the pump is bad I have them for $314 Good Luck Ed

When I pull off an mcv I replace all o rings and springs that way there are no questions about what is good and what isn"t. As far as the pump you need a flow rater to check how many gallons per minute you are pumping. I have the parts and the flow rater to check your pump. Where are you located?
