I just bought what I thought was a IH 444 but after getting back from the parts store I'm not too sure. I picked up a air filter and an oil filter and both of them don't fit.
I got the model number off the side of the tractor.

Its: A490001B000704 - England.

It has a BC144 Engine

Could someone help me identify the tractor model so I can get the right parts.
Is it posible that its a 3444? What would be the difference?

Thanks,

James

Pedro, click on the link below. There was a Europe and US 444. This may help on part numbers as both are listed. David.....Link

James: Where are you located? The reason I ask is there were 2 different 444, one completely manufactured and assembled in England and the other assembled at Louisville KY. About the only thing same on the two tractors is the engine, transmission and rear end castings and internal parts.

The Louisville tractors were sold only in the US, while the English tractors were sold in Europe, Canada, New Zeland and Austrailia. Some have since crossed the border, and if you have one across border from where it was sold new, local parts guys know little about it. I doubt if it's even in their parts books.

I'm in Eastern Ontario. I went to the Case dealership for the parts and told them I have a British Built 444. Still got the wrong parts. Any clue how to decode the model number? Also, I don't know if its been filed down or just old, but the serial number is not on the plate where I found the model number.

James: If you go over the serial tag with SOS it may highlight those numbers. I have one like that and it worked for me.

Your eastern Ontario dealer should have the right parts for the British assembled 444.
