Need help making cub mower deck level

My old cub mower deck sits lower on the front right hand corner " sitting on the seat" of the deck. I thought I would level it out after listening to some complaining from momma about the uneven cut. For the life of me I can not figure out how to adjust this other than putting a big bar to it and twisting on it a little. I could not find any adjustment in the mounting hardware like slotted bolt holes or anything like that. Any advise would be welcome.

What deck are you using, the 59 inch Woods? If so, do you mow with the front caster wheels on the ground? If so, there are shims on those caster wheels,on the upright pivot rod. I couldn't see them on my deck until I scraped the crud off and there they were.

If you are using a different deck let us know.

It does not have any caster wheels on it. I'm not sure the brand but I have seen a lot like it. I had a bunch of photos but Epson closed their web sight and I saved my photos to a memory stick and my wife "by mistake" deleted all 480 of them. It has a large pully right in the center of the deck. It has two blades that are hinged kind of like a bush hog. It does a great job of mowing, just about an inch lower on the right hand side.

That's one of the 42" decks. It could be an IH, Woods, Danco, Brush Hog, or one of several other brands.

An inch lower on one side???? The problem should be obvious just looking at the tractor from the front if the cut is that lop-sided.
Park it on a level surface, walk out ahead of it, get down on your belly, and sight across the front of the deck. An inch is a HUGE tilt, so you should be able to see it.

Mine was out of level just enough that you weren't quite sure if it was cutting even or not, but you could almost see those annoying streaks in the grass. Just the slight amount of wiggle in the mounts was enough to level the deck out.

Paul,

It could very well be that the deck is twisted but you need to measure to find out.

What type of deck do you have?

I found that there is some slop in the rear mounts for the Danco/IH C3 deck where they bolt to the final drives. By loosening the bolts and lifting up on the low side, and pushing down on the high side, you can get some adjustment.

First measure the tire pressure to assure it is the same!
On flat concrete, measure the tip of blade to concrete (with blade rotated to be under the mount on each side, left/right)to get an accurate difference.
The front of the deck must be 3/8 inch lower than the back of the deck to prevent continuous recutting of the grass.
When the difference in height is determined, I would lengthen the short side that amount (maybe adding a bolt on tab, or rat tail file on the hole. Good luck, tell us how it turns out. JimN

I have one of those 42" decks also. After 25 years of using for a step to get on and off the tractor it got a little twisted. Then a rear mount broke. So I got it welded and installed a step off the final drive housing so I don't step on the mower.
