I am putting in about 450 feet of board fence and while drilling some holes today I noticed when the digging gets hard IE kicking up a rock, it will stop turning. Now it is only when there is a bind, and I wouldn't call it weak by any means, but I am currious if a pto clutch is in my future and if so how difficult of an opperation is it.

Oiled the linkage today and never noticed any slip until bam I broke a lift arm. So it will be Friday before the new parts arrive.

We were making progress too. I spent most of the day digging the old fassioned way.
I need to add a stabilizer bar to my 3 point, I don't think this would have happened if I would have had a bar on it.

Jeef, sometime when PTO is not used frequently the PTO lever mechanism that pulls the valve on the top of the MCV valve under your left foot becomes rusted and binds and either does not fully engage the PTO or disengage it.

Mine had never been used by me prior to this project. I have drilled about 30 holes so far and 10 of them were in asphalt. So it has been getting a workout.

Jeef, make sure the PTO lever is properly adjusted and the mechanism is not binding. Use your favourite penetration oil on it.
There are pressure adjustments on the MCV valve for the hydraulic clutch PTO but requires gauges.

Never had to replace a PTO clutch myself but it is removed through the hole in the side of the transmission case under you right foot.

I was thinking I may not have had the lever thrown all the way on one occasion.
