Hello all!
I'm taking my Dad, Brother, and Uncle to MO in June. We are located in central WI. We are taking a couple of days. We want to take in as many Red Places as possible. Any of you been to Farmall Land in Avoca IA? Any good historical places, impressive dealerships, etc.? We hope to travel 2 laners most of the way to do some "Windshield Farming" and small town diner meals, any recommendations of definite do not misses at the RPRU?

Thanks for any help.
We are still waiting for things to dry up here to get some corn in the ground. $6.00 corn and if we don't get it in soon we'll have lots of corn silage!!!

Hi Butch, I see the weather hasn't been too helpful up your way. How's your brother doing at APG? I have most of my garden planted. The grass is growing like crazy. Must be from that fertilizer that I used, but it's nice & green.
Hal

By all means stop at MT.Pleasant on the way down as the WMT TRACTORCADE will be in MT.Pleasant. There will be at least 460 tractors there each morning before the ride starts at 7:30 when each group will start in 20 minute intervals then will return around 3:00 in the afternoon each day starting Monday thru Wednesday. The grounds will be open starting Sunday which is when the tractors will arrive. Meals will be avail Breakfast and evening. More info is on www.wmtradio.com then search for 2008 Tractorcade. There is a map of each days ride. The dates are June8,9,10 and 11. Wednesday being the end of the ride around noon and the tractors will start to leavefor home. Best time to see them would be on Tuesday eve or early Wensday AM or any of the earlier days. Motels will probably booked in the MT. PLEASANT area. Iowa City is only 45 mi north and the freeway runs makes it a short trip. KINZE is only by appointment to see the tractors. I will be looking for you with a B and BN with buddy seats cant miss them. see ya there.

Well if I wasn't 100 miles south west of Columbia I would say you could stop by at my place. I have all colors. Gene-mo is not all that far from Columbia either.

Definitely out of the way to go via Avoca, Iowa on your way to Columbia, Missouri but maybe you don"t mind that.

I haven"t been there but I"ve heard others speak of the Kinze Company at or near Williamsburg, Iowa which has a bunch of antique tractors and I think other machinery. I"ve seen a picture somewhere and I believe most of the tractors are McCormick. Jon Kinzenbah (not sure of the name spelling) is the company owner or at least was.

Mount Pleasant, Iowa has the Midwest Old Threshers Museum. Probably at least some red there, but again I haven"t been there.

Kinze MFG tours are a neat site to take in. Just walking in to get a tour of John's private tractor collection is a little tougher. He does have quite a display though, split between IH and JD.
