H farmall belly pump

what oil do I need to put in my belly pump? Do I use non detergant motor oil or hydrolic oil. I know the book says to use non detergant but wanted some body elses opinion.

Factory was 30w motor oil.

I run Hy-Tran in mine as we share implements with our other modern tractors.

i run hy-tran in the belly pumps, that way if you are sharing implements between tractors, the fluid is all the same. jd runs hy-guard, dont know if it would hurt to cross over, but to be on the safe side,i wouldnt mix em, especially if a tractor has wet brakes or clutch.

It doesn't really matter for that pump. You might get a little more pressure with 30W, on the other hand HyTran will leak easier. Or you may never know the difference. The pump does not care. I have heard not to use detergent because of potential foaming, I don't know. We used detergent in our H, engine and belly pump in the 50's.
