Found a guy with a Norden brand wide front for sale. Anyone familiar with these? How do they compare with the Swartz?

He says it came off an H. I assume it'll fit an M as well, correct? Thanks!

However, Ron, you're in Kansas. Norden front ends were built in Russell, so maybe there's a better supply of them down there to be parted out. I don't know. If that's the case, $250 might not be so bad. If you do buy it, look around for pieces at your local yards and maybe get a spare set of spindles. Measure carefully and note whether they are keyed or splined.
If it turns out that used parts are abundant and cheap down there, post about it, and I'll pay you to find spindles for me....

Look very closely at the cup where the thing turns from spindle to the axle and bearing cone. If it's been welded up a zillion times, that will tell you something.

I'm not quite in Kansas...in fact where I'm at in Nebraska I could almost throw a rock and have it land in South Dakota, so I don't think parts are gonna be too abundant around here. And, not too many salvage yards in my neck of the woods either, far as I know.

I am gonna be using a front end loader on the tractor, pickin' up big round bales, etc., so I'll probably wait and see if I can come up with a HD Schwartz someplace. Heck, no hurry...don't have the tractor bought yet....

I've seen used Schwartz wfe's for $400 to $750, depending on condition, whether you got hubs, etc. New ones [for a 560, at least] do run about $1000-1200 by the time you figure in freight. Maybe more, given fuel prices.

BUT-- after all the hassle and chasing around and phone bills to ASAP, and being broken down with hay on the ground and rain on the horizon, and still never finding a spindle, well, what's that worth?

I do use a front end loader with mine, but I go real slow. You can watch the spindles flex when you try to lift too big a load. It's creepy.

Speeco sells spindles that can be machined down and re-keyed, but the shops near me aren't doing that for free, either.

Caveat Emptor. Just my very bitter two cents of experience. If you do buy it, make sure you keep your narrow front well-maintained and handy, and a 4-ton floor jack, 3/4 inch ratchet drive and blocking material is good to have around as well. I can change them out in the field in about an hour now, but I have had quite a bit of practice.

What are you plans for the tractor? If you don't plan on using it for a front end loader or having a lot of weight out front, I think that front end will be just fine.

I believe a HD Schwartz is near $1000 these days...

Don't do it. I have two. They're weak junk and you can't find parts. They are the worst tractor purchases I have made.

Buy a Schwartz.

Thanks for the heads up Don. Wasn't what I was hoping to hear though! He only wants $250 for the thing!

Anybody else have experience with 'em?

I know I've seen it on some of Allan's posts, but whats the heavy-duty Swartz cost again?

The 4 main bolts to the cast iron front bolster are the exact same spacing from the H through the 450.

Extra support brackets that go to the frame rails will be different. The bolt spacing on the steering arm is also different.

I have a Speeco on my H:
