The steering on my Farmall M is very loose. Any ideas on tighting it up. The front wheels wobble real bad in fifth gear.

Remove the cover thats on top of the pedistal and check if the worm is running in the center of the gear. Normally as the thrust bearing wears the worm will ride above center, this causes it to be loose.Make a spacer washer the thickness the same as the worm is above center and place it on top of the thrust bearing, Lots of bearings have been replaced that adding a shim would have saved for a long time. The 400-450's were bad for this,I have shimed them as much as 1/8in.There are several other contributing factors causing loose steering but most are noticeable. Good Luck

Just start at the steering wheel and work your way down to the wheel bearings. Replace anything that is loose or worn. There is no quick easy miracle fix.
