Does anyone have an actual "bearing" for the throw out on their SC or SA? I'm doing an out of frame OH on my 53 SC and figured I'd change the throw out bearing while I was in there. It was a carbon-like skid plate instead of a bearing. The parts guy at Case said that part is still available, along with an actual bearing type, but the bearing type uses a different style carrier. The carrier I have has grease fittings on it. My question is, why the grease fittings for the carbon style "bearing". I saw the parts diagram at the dealer, it was pretty vague on what was needed. Any help on this would be appreciated.

There probably wasn't anything wrong with your "seized" graphite bearing. They aren't designed to turn.

When greasing the graphite bearing, grease is pumped into the back side and the oil from the grease seeps through the graphite to lubricate it.

I bought a Super C that had very few hours, but the only thing wrong with it was the graphite throwout bearing was seized up. For about $100, I replace with a later version that had actual bearings. I didn't think the graphite had any advantage at all... this was a tractor with perhaps less than 500 hours on it.

Two items:
The carbon type is actually very operational. they wear, but as they do, the clutch wears and they go in opposite directions. This can reduce clutch adjustments. They are noise free, and have proven to be fine.
The grease is squirted (very infrequently) into the groove of the carrier to lube it along the shaft. JimN
