Put the belly mower on the Farmall 200 this morning and started to mow the ditches in front of the house. All of a sudden the fan belt started to slip so I let the engine cool down and took the belt off since it was at the end of the adjustment. Picked up a new belt and started the tractor up and it started to slip too. With the belt off, I can turn the fan blades so it is not like it is caught on anything. What could be the problem? Need to get it fixed fast before the grass gets away from me. Thanks.

I retensioned the belt when it started to slip again and do not think that is the problem. Could the water pump be locked up?

Are you sure you have the correct size belt? Did you put the belt on tight enough? New belts need to be re-tensioned after being run for 5-10 minutes.

Wrong size belt -- also new belts need to be readjusted after a few minutes of running -- they stretch.
