In the later years of F12&14 there were different gear ratios in the transmission, and were identified by using different letters. These letters were suposed to be stamped on the back of the rear end housing,I think,Can someone tell me exactly where to look,I have heard above the PTO shaft on a flat surface but I have never seen anything

The 7 mph F-12, F14 used the same 3rd gear as the O-12, I-12 and Fairway-12. There was also an option to use as high speed ratio between gearbox and differential which would give about 9.5 mph. This later gearbox to differential ratio was used in the O-12 etc. which had a road speed of 10.6 mph. However, 1st gear was over 3 mph at 2000 2pm.

I'm not sure if they made the later F-12's faster, but I know that a higher speed transmission was an option. My Dad has a 1933 F-12 that can go 7MPH and it has no overdrive unit in it.

Does it have a overdrive unit? If not, you probably have the F-12 with the "7MPH Transmission". I never seen another 7MPH F-12 before besides my Dad's F-12, they are hard to find.
