I am wondering if anyone has any ideas on what is wrong with my tractor. I have rebuilt the card completely top to bottom. I also have excellent spark. Very good and even compression in all of the cylinders. I am getting gas to the carb but it will only run about 45sec at a time. It does not matter if I use the choke or not it does not make a difference. My gas line and bowl is ver clean so there is not trash pluging it. I have also install new plugs as well. Any Ideas would be great to hear. You can call me if you need more information, 320 279 0373. Thanks

I had what sounds like your problem a year or so ago. My problem was with the battery being dead. It would have enough charge to run the tractor but would start to miss and then quit. I had to track down the discharge problem and then it would charge and hold a charge. Unlike the mag on the older tractors this tractor requires a charge from the battery to run. I would try the charge and see where that goes. I hope this get's to you Good luck.

Sounds like a gas flow problem to me. Start at the tank and work your way to the carb. I think you'll find the problem.

I'm leaning towards an issue with the gas cap. Try running the tractor with the gas cap removed.

Provided you have the float set correctly, it is a flow problem. You could have a restriction in the tank outlet. Take a flashlight and a wire, remove the gas cap and poke the wire through the outlet. It is possible, not likely that the vent in the gas cap is plugged, try it with the cap removed. There is a screen attached to the fitting that the gas line screws into. If you did not remove that fitting when you cleaned the carb, you did not see it. Otherwise you have a plugged jet. Did you soak the whole carb in carb cleaner when you had it off?

I tried the removing the gas cap and it did not make a difference. I did let the card soak in cleaner for 2 days before rebuilding it, I have also taken this carb apart 3 different times cleaning the jets and I am not seeing any dirt or pluged jet holes. Also when it is running I can mess with the jets and it to does not make a difference. I have went through the cap rotor and points everything looks good and clean. I have also checked the coil and I am getting a good snap out of that. What is strange about this is the tractor was running great for an hour and then it just went to running like this with no power it took me 30 mins to go about 500 foot. It was not under a load or high rpms.

Thanks

Sounds like the vent hole in the fuel cap is plugged. Set the cap really ajar (or remove it for a few minutes) and see if it continues to run.

Be sure that the needle & seat in the carburetor is not sticking and be sure the float level in the carb is correctly set.
