Help Again. I have the tractor torn completely apart. 4th and 5th gear was damaged but not broken tooth. Replaced gear and inspected all gears and other in rear end. Front split and can get to clutch and etc. Mechanic can not get the drive shaft loose from center section without removing gas tank, steering shaft etc????? Said a large gear was holding it in. Have not looked at myself. I want to eliminate the TA. I found an elimination kit for around 329.00. It contains a carrier, 1-ramp, 1 coupler. Is this all I will need to do the elimination? The IHC parts person said he had heard of folks welding them together in high range or putting extra cluthes in them. This was on the 1066 though and they were the oil and not dry type. Any help of any kind would sure help here as to what to do about the repairs.

Thanks in advance

Fix the TA and use it properly. You will wonder how you got along without it.

In the morning at 10 am I'm going to look at her torn down and split two times. he called and said the center section with the TA was out and on the saw horses, but with the TA still in side of her. He indicated there was oil in both the ta section and clutch housing section. Mostly in the TA section. I'm guessing we will have to tear down the ta and put in new seals. No not guessing, going to. Is there some secrets I need to know that would save us a lot of trouble here. And you think I would be more happy by fixing it rather than removing it?? I know I will need a new throw out bearing and seals. What else would be a must will down??

Thanks in Advance

Don"t weld the gears! If you do you just ruined a $100 core ta. Yes all you need is a carrier that has been machined for the elimination coupler and a bad ramp since you don"t need to use the pins and rollers anyway. You will also need the gaskets and seals. I have all the parts on hand for eliminations feel free to email me if you are interested.
