I was using my H on Sunday to pick up a rear end of anouther tractor not real heavy, maybe 500lbs or so. I was backing out and all of a sudden i heard a bang in the front, i thought that one of the front rims had plow off or blew a tire. When i got off i relized that it sheard a spindal off! clean right off no bending just clean a clean break! After examineing it i noticed that the spinal had been weakend for a long time with ONLY about 10 percnet of the spindal left! the rest had been broken for a long time.... Just took that little bit to finish it off... I guess the blessing here is that could have happened on the road!!!! or at our wood lot, much harder to repair there. I guess i have to look at this in a positve way that no one got hurt, and nothing happened to the tractor itself either, except for the broken spindal lol

What exactly broke? I'd like to check mine to make sure it's ok, but I'm not sure of what you are referring to.

Mike,

What actually broke was the spindal that comes off the bolster, the part that the hub is on. Mine broke right in the back of the inner bearing. Im thinking the reason why it broke was just the fact the fact that its had a loader on it for most of its life. The problem is that you cant see where it broke unless you have the hub off and the bearing off as well. Ill deff check that every time now that i replace or repack a front bearing i know that i will be more aware of that area. I just thought that it was disturbing because iv seen front ends break off while tedding fast and drive into a woodchuck hole . but i was just backing up at an idle. Im just thank full that no one got hurt.
