Hi,

I am looking to be a new International tractor owner but I need some help and not sure if this is the right place to post but thought it might be. What I found was a 240 International on a local farm for sale where the farm is up for sale. Today I talked with the owner it started off at $3000 for the tractor with a front loader plus more for the attacments. A 7" mower deck, a 4" brush mower deck, and a leveling blade. Looked online and I had a hard time finding prices. This tractor is in good shape and found out he replaced the rear tires and still has a good rear spare. Also the clutch has been replaced. I went back from looking online and about $1700 is what was looking about right in price but I did not know all the work he had done before thinking that price. Well he came down to $3000 for everything now but he is going to think about it and he wants me to call him up latter this week to work on price. He knows when we sells the farm he can not take it with him. From the work done on it my father is thinking $2200 for it all I am thinking about $2500 for it all. What we are going to be using this tractor for is cutting our 8 acers of lawn and work around the house and moving snow in winter.

Can you help me on what I would be a good price to pay for this setup? I do not want to low ball the guy but I do not want to get ripped off either. Thanks for your help and I hope I will be a new owner soon. If it is like our 1969 Interational 3/4 crew cab truck it should be a fun to have.

I did forget to ask one thing is there anything that I should watch out for on this model? I know form working on old cars some models had there if you see this do not buy even if it does not look bad.
I think I am going to look around and make a final offer latter this week. If it works out then great if not then O well and see what else I find latter this year. I hope it does.

Well, IMO.The 240 is not considered Rare By Most. But My Experience has shown that the Tin is getting hard to find in good shape, aftermarket Parts for some of the Chrome goodies and trim are nonexistant. But thats what makes it fun..Eventually Ebay comes thru for all.The steering gets loose and the repair gets harder to find. That being said,I still Love mine unto Death and will keep it running as long as I can turn a wrench. Amen. :)

Thanks I am in in IL right by WI about 15min south

Yes it does have power steering. So the $2500 is about right then?

Coax you wouldn't believe what I went through to get it looking like that. When I got it there was about 1/8" of rust and paint applied with a pine top. Took a lot to get it down to metal. David.

Just wondering does the loader add a lot to it in value? The only reason I ask is because online I see them for under 2K and the attachments I can find the price to know what they go for.

It depends on the Loader. If it looks like the guy Built it in his backyard Maybe not,But Mine came with a Complete Davis loader, also in pretty good shape and working. Those are close to $800-$1000 Separately.(at least in Washington St.)The Fast Hitch in good shape is $500 to start..Prices may Vary to area. The State you're in may have more IH supply than mine has..(Demand sets the Price..

Ok did not know that they went for that much. This one was made for the tractor. It was made by a comp. out in IL by me. It is a little widder then the tractor. He said it was not a floter but you can put down pressure on the bucket to dig down. I did not know they go for that much used.

I am kind of learning right now. When I worked on a Dairy farm in college I had a 1946 Ford that got to know very well since it liked me when I worked on it but not the owner.

Well worked out a deal. Getting it for $2350 with everything. Had a problem with the truck with the trailer plug so going to try and pick it up the end of the week or Saturday.

BTW where is there a good place for parts for this tractor? I want to get all the sheet metal that needs to be replaced ASAP before it get to hard to find.
