Just thought I would run this one by you guys. Looks basic enough but I been a little nervous since the fire. So, speaking about the switch, there is a short wire that runs off one side of the ammeter (matter which side?) to the fuse post.
Needs a 20 amp automotive fuse. Then there is a post that the rear light hooks on to. So far so good. There are two posts with a loopy bit of wire betwixt them that the manual calls a "dimmer resistance" and the top post is where I hooks on the front lights. Is that loopy thing likely to have gone south on me or should it be OK? Switch looks good. Last, and mostly the confusing part, is a post where I am s'posed to hook on the genny. This thing is labeled "field circuit resistance" and would be real simple except I got no genny. This is a 12v conversion with an alternator and all that I been redoing and I am not sure what if anything hooks onto this field circuit resistance post. Anyone got a light schematic for a 12 volt conversion? Don't seem to have one in my archives. Any help at all much appreciated. Thanks guys!

Since you are `12v you are going to make some changes as that sw does use ground for hi-charge. I would just wire the lites to one of the terminals for lites and dont worry about the resistor for dim. Wire all three on the same fused post and have bright all the time. That wire going to the gen for hi-charge DONT USE.

It does matter which side: It goes on the side of the amp gauge not connected to the battery. The generator terminals should be all ignored. they are all either direct ground, or ground through the resistor (usually a flat piece of flaky mica, or asbestos) this stuff is no longer needed due to the alt.
The switch positions are, from full CCW:
Low Charge (now not used and therefore OFF)
High Charge (now not used and thus OFF as above)
Dim front Lights connected through the resistor, and rear light on
High All lights full on rear and front.
Stay away from the grounded terminals on the switch, they are cutout relay style generator use only. JimN
