Can anyone give me a ballpark price for a UD 24 power unit. It is in original condition, not running, but not stuck either, all complete. I was offered $500 for it, but I know its worth more than that. Thanks for any help!

If it will fit a TD24 crawler it may be worth considerably more.

If it is not running, it is in that range of value. It might bring that much at the scrap yard, but the truth is it has a limited appeal as it is both big, and has no wheels or drive train. It is challenging to find a use for it. If it was running, it might be worth GRAND, But finding a local buyer is most likely, due to shipping it any distance. Good luck JimN

The person wanting the engine, only wants the engine and not the skid frame. He is putting it into something, dozer, grader or something. He is wanting to haul it to Alaska, he has 2 other engines up there. I was thinking it would be worth more than a grand, being they didn't make that many of the 24, I guess its in a different ball game than tractors!! It is a big clumsy motor thats for sure. It was on a small sawmill, the guy told me it alittle bit of an over kill for a hobby mill. Thanks for your reply

Because of the application, Id say it might be worth 6 to 7 hundred, but if he does not buy it it may sit for a long time. He must transport it a long way and it is not tunning. Best bet is getting it running and selling him a sure bet. JimN

He came over the other day with a battery and it turned over nicely. He told me to name a price that he had the money with him. He wants it pretty bad, but I have the mill that goes with it, I am not really looking to sell it, not yet anyway. I told him that, but he said just to think about it for awhile.I told him I was going to check with you guys and see what kind of price they sell for, I have no idea, I never seen one for sale anywhere. He said if I don't sell it that he would come and give me a hand getting it running if I wanted. I had intentions on getting it running and putting the mill in operation again. Every time I go to work on it something else comes up, last summer it should have been running, but my dad ended up getting sick and passed away in Nov. We collected JD and IH tractors together and restored them, this is the only power unit we have,it was a family engine and mill, so I am kind of attached to it. After my dad passed away I was thinking about selling everything, that is when this guy contacted me about the UD, so I was kicking around the idea of selling. Thank You for your help, I appreciate it
