Anyone know where I can find either a oil pump or rebuild kit for c146 engine? Saw a c154 diesel on this site but not the c146 gasser.
Also does anyone know the oil pressure this engine should run ? At idle it only has 3-4 psi and that scares me. About 20-25 psi throttled up. Thanks for any help !!!

My 404 was like this when I got it. Basically it had no oil pressure at idle and very little with the engine spun up. The oil pump end cover was so warped it had blown the spacing gasket completely out on one side.
Sanding the cover and the pump face flat and using a new gasket with loctite fixed it right up.

I've now got about 25 pounds at low idle hot and 45-50 at high idle. Good enough for me...

Hello Kirk,
The rule of thum for minimum oil pressure is 10 psi per 1000 rpm.
does the engine smoke? your idle pressure is low but high idle is ok. If it realy bothers you I would pull the oil pan and take a look. maybe you can put a kit in the oil pump and slip in some new rod bearings and bring you pressure up you can look up the engine parts you want at abcrepairparts.com
Good luck Ed

If the c146 oil pump is like the c153 engine in Mt 2444 just flattening up the end plate on the oil pump worked wonders for oil pressure. Did it on a friends 444 and it made it run 45 lbs of oil pressure.
