Hi this is Lucas again.. thanks for the help with my carb! I appreciate it..along with the carb trouble, i also have no oil pressure. The pump is rebuild and packed with vasiline. We made sure we had the right main bearings too.. we can't figure this one out.

On some automotive applications, Chilton instructs you to pack the oil pump with petroleum jelly to provide vacuum for initial priming. As soon as the engine fires, the petroleum jelly disappears into the engine oil. (I always check an engine for oil pressure on the engine stand, before I ever set it into the vehicle. If you have an oil pressure problem, that's the time and place to find it).

Apparently, the practice doesn't necessarily cross over onto farm tractors.

Pump oil into the oil pressure line connection in the block gallery. Use a pump type oilcan and a rubber hose adapter to make it fill the gallery. Several oil cans of oil may be needed, but it is sure piece of mind to know it has oil in every passage. JimN

I had a similar problem with an H rebuild - turns out I had a bad guage right out of the box.

Do as Glennster suggested get rid of the vaseline
and prime the pump in a clean container of engine oil. Just spin the drive gear. Hal

why is the pump packed with vaseline? clean all that out of the pump, prime the pump with regular motor oil and give er a try.
