I pulled off a plug wire ,put a plug on it and checked for spark. No spark. Then I pulled the coil wire and put a plug on it and cranked it. No spark there either. What shoul I do to figure out whats wrong with it? It has sat for 5 years. Thanks for any help. Joe

Rub the points with some 320 wet or dry and take a cotton swab dipped in alcohol and clean them again. Hal

First, try cleaning the breaker points with electrical contact cleaner, and burnishing them by repeatedly pulling a clean strip of white cardstock through them, followed by a blast of dry compressed air to remove any remaining debris.

The Blue Ribbon Mag Service manual, including your Cub mag, can be viewed and/or printed out at the Rudi's Cubs site linked below.

Your best bet would be to take the mag off and have it rebuilt. You may be able to get by with just filing and reseting the points, assuming the points are still usable. If you are not familiar with a magneto, how they work and how to tune them up, then either now is a good time to learn, or have someone else take care of it. I can rebuild it for you if you are interested.
