Hello - I have a 1983 484 with a front loader but no rear hydraulic outlets.

What do I need to add the back end to provide for a pair of hydraulic outlets and a control handle for up/down?

My manuals show some sort of valve body that bolts to the side of the transmission but it is not clear if that can be done with the connections to the front loader installed.

Thanks very much.

I had wondered what those holes were for. I thought they for the mud wasp to make nest in :D These are both inners (I think) and in good shape. Drop me a line if interested.

Just like the extra holes in the rear housing. Only there to collect rust. :D

You have two inners and the end blockoff plate on the tractor shown in your photos. The outer valve has one side closed so no blockoff plate is required.

I'll know this weekend if the valves I have are OK. You'll be hearing from me if they aren't... ;)

Did a little research, this is what I found... "These valves will bolt on almost all IH tractors 504 and larger. 544 656 706 756 806 826 ,9s 10s 12s 14s but not 86s. The valve levers however fit 504 544 and 656 only". Looks like this might exclude the 404, anyone have any input?

Thank you Charles.
The levers are different on the 404.

The 404 lever has a fixed pin welded to one side that accepts an e-clip on the end. It pivots on the hole in the valve spool and the lever bottom is slotted to allow it to slide on a pin that runs though a bracket mounted to the end of each valve. You can see the empty 5/16" mounting holes for the bracket on the valves in your photos.
Thanks for the info on what they fit. I have 2 valves now, an inner and an outer, but I'm not sure the outer is good. I've yet to install it. If it's not, I might be interested in another inner valve. I could use 2 inners and my endplate.
I saw your posts about rebuilding your valves. Very informative. I'll probably need to do mine in the future no matter. But right now I'd just like to get both installed so I can have rear remotes on the tractor. I need at least one to run a no till planter for some grass that needs done *soon*

JSharp,

It is a Farmall 504 Diesel. The valves will fit a 404, 504, 606, and others. Let me check what else they fit. Are you looking for a set?

Thanks for the response guys but the valves on a 484 would be under the sheet metal to right of the seat.

The up/down for the three point hitch is there but there is also an empty slot as if there was once a handle to control something.

Todd - What model tractor is that in your photos? The valves look the same as what's on my 404 but for the handles and the tractor is obviously a different model.

I assume you have a joystick or a two spool valve plumbed into the hydraulic pump for the loader. Look by the quadrant (rear lift handle) for a block off plate. IH has an open center system and this plate has bypass ports to circulate fluid (I think).

Here is my system after I re-worked the hydraulic valves.

This is with the quadrant cover removed and fender off, see the plate with a bulge, this is the bypass plate.

This is with the quadrant cover installed.

This is the rear remote ports. I got a pair of Safeway's at a local dealer. These people have the breakaway bracket, http://www.dultmeier.com/manufacturers/pioneer-coupling.asp

Good luck and post a pic of your setup, we can help. If the 484 uses the same valves, I have two valves and a end plate available with new o-rings.
