I replaced the sector gear om my super H because the steering was so bad. How tight is the nut to be tigntened done. It was npt toghtened done at all when I removed it. I just twisted it off with my fingers. shouldn't it be tighter than that. Thanks for you help or suggestions.

When i tighten mine I use the air impact you just have to keep watching for the hole in the shaft and the castle nut to line up to push the cotter pin through

I've not found a torque spec for that nut. However based on the tread diameter/pitch I tightened the nut on my SH to about 90 ft-lb

Also the nut should be castellated to accept a cotter pin. After tightening turn the nut back just enough so one of the castellations lines up with the cotter pin hole in the pivot shaft, then slide a cotter pin through to lock it.

Sometimes they work loose and by tightening them, you eliminate some of the play. By all means, tighten it down good and solid. mike
