While replacing bull pinion shaft oil seals for a brake job. I noticed a bad bearing on the right side bull pinion brake shaft. What do i need to remove to get at this bearing? What else should I look for while Iam in there? It looks like I need to remove the transmission cover and belt pulley assembly any experience and help would be apppreciated. Thanks Matt

Get an I&T manual for your tractor. Plan on removing the top cover. Buy the correct heavy duty bearing for the bull pinion (about $100). Check that the pinion bearing in the transmission input shaft is good.

It is a lot of work, but nothing too tricky. The second time you do it, you can have it back together the same day.

Jim, Can I do this by just removing the bull pinion shaft retainer? Matt

No that is the real issue, the retainer is not able to be removed W/O backing the bull gear out of a undercut area of the carrier. It comes out about 1/4 inch or so, then stops. The rough handed then break them with pressure and force. The moving of the gear is manditory. JimN

It can be done from the PTO drive hole. Use wedges to hold up the bull gears while sliding the axles out, then move the gears rearward to clear the carrier. It is a bit tedious to do, but so is tearing off the top.
Use the bolt holding the axle to the bull gear to drive the axle out (tire off the ground). Spacers placed between the two bolt heads will assist in this. They will almost push it all the way out of the bull gear. The wedges make it much easier to put the gear back into position to insert the axle. Best of luck, JimN
