Update on my 140

That 140 that I recently bought is running like a top. The transmission only had about a quart of gear oil still in it, and I think it had never been changed.I refilled with a fresh gallon. The engine oil had some water in it, but you couldn't see it untill after draining into a pan. It was "gray" colored. This came from the tractor being outside, at some point with an open exhaust pipe in the rain. Final-drive units must have been close to dry, because I put a quart of gear oil in each one, and it never ran out of the plug hole. I'm sure the hydro fluid needs changing, and I'm going to do that today. Lifts don't leak down, and are stable. But front lift jerks a little when you raise it(on the way up). Carb needed re-building, so I did. Engine doesn't smoke any, and I see no leaks. Looks like a fairly new radiator on it. Anyway, thanks for All your help with the tractor issues that I've had.

The hydraulic fluid was black and nasty looking, and it was only about a quart in it. I drained and re-filled. I don't know how the lifts were working at all.I can't cut the gas valve off(need a new one), and the carburetor was re-done, but after sitting all night, a very small amount of gas dripped out of the carb, and it didn't run quite as smooth as it did yesterday. Guess I need to shut the fuel off after each run.
