What tractors had the D301 motor besides the 715 combine? I am putting a 301 in our 560, what do I do about the flywheel, its slightly different than whats on the 282 thats in it? How do I adress this slight issue. other than that I think its a pretty basic swap.

use the 560 flywheel I have did several. The diesel I used came out of a 403 combine.Theirs one problem you can over come is the oilfilter base which you have to use from the 560 which is the cast iron one.Consists of boreing and pluging a hole in the block. When you get to that point and have a problem post and I will try to help you.

There was a replacement oil filter base released for use on 560 tractors when using a new replacement block. If you can find one of those it will work on the newer blocks with the relocated oil galleys and still allow clearance for the steering shaft. It is cast iron and uses a spin on filter.

It sounds like the 560's flywheel won't fit the D301 crank.

This is a diesel 301, BTW. Gas parts won't work.

If it's just a slight difference, can the 560 flywheel perhaps be modified to fit? Swapping cranks is a lot of work and not as simple as you might think, if you want the engine to run and last after you're done. Plus, if the reason you're dumping the D282 is because it had a bad crank...

No tractors used the D-301, The 806 and 856 used C-301 in the gas and L.P.

Can I just swap the crankshaft since they have the same stroke. Or does my lack of mountain dew have me thinking stupid. ;~)
