On the A, the final drive on the left is hard up against the tranny/diff case, just like on the Cub, so it has a wide front offset the same way the rear is.

Bs, the left-hand final drive has a longer shaft and housing, the same length as on the right where the seat platform is. Being centered up instead of offset on the rear like an A, the B came with a narrow front (single- or double- wheeled.

Mechanically, they're pretty much the same tractor. Interchangability of parts is limited in most cases to things like the drawbar, seat mounts and a few other things that are affected only by the different dimensions in the width.

I agree with Glennster, The only issue is lack of hydraulic on both of them. A belt driven pump, or PTO driven System is always able to be done. Or a later model engine with the pump option could be used. JimN

the a has a wide front, b, narrow front. same engines and trans, same hp. b has wide left rear axle, a, narrow lt rear axle. both handy little tractors, real good with a belly mower. pricewise, i"d guess the a would bring a little more with the wide front.
