The paint job is over, brought the Super A out of my shop for the first time since Christmas. Oil leaks all fixed, new paint job. When down to the barn and mounted my newly painted Woods mower. Just beat the deadline, my grass is about 2". I'll have photos in a few days, soon as I add the new battery box. The battery box is late as I was going to use the old one until about 3 days ago. At that point I decided I broke my planned budget anyhow, may as well keep dollars in circulation.

Wow! 2 inches of grass. Here the frost is just coming out. We are in for 10 to 14 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow. It would have been nice if the small grains were planted. But none around here.

Hi Hugh, I have to attach my own Woods mower soon and was wondering if you have any tips for how to make this go smooth and make sure the belts run right on etc.. I hurt my back removing the dang thing last season...any advice appreciated. Stan in TN

Stan: I had the mower on concrete floor so I was able to circle front wheels around it, so it was close 1/3 of the way under. It moved quite easy cross ways, then I added the push arms. Then I coupled up my hydrauilc lift, and lifted the front. that makes it very light for picking up push arms and pinning them.

I haven't put the belt on yet, I'm trying to decide whether I put a new one on that I bought two years ago, or do I stick with that ragety old one, I thought was worn out two years ago. I've never found the belt particularly hard to get running true. It takes a bit of time and patience, key is to get it so it doesn't rub very hard on one side of the reverse idler. I adjust that idler so belt moves from one side to the other on uneven ground. As the mower moves over uneveness if the belt sticks to one side of that reverse idler, it's not correct.

Hugh, congratulations! I can't wait to see the old girl when you get some pics up. Yeah, I hate getting mine dirty too.

"...and then, there was one less pink Super A in the world." heheh.

Take care.

Dave

Hugh,

You know your going to get it dirty and mess that new paint job up if you use it.

Randy: I was thinking the same thing my self, after I got the mower on this afternoon, I decided to take a few min just sit down and have a look at it, while it still looks good.

Bob: Photos are coming, I'm not much of a camera guy myself. Melanie took some a few days ago, she feared thay might not turn out, apparently Sandy has the camera set so sensitive, only he can stand still enough to use it. Seemed like a sensitive issue, so I haven't asked about the photos. All I know is, they haven't arrived in my e mail.
