I hate to beat this to death but I called the online dealer and he did a north american parts search and no one has the O rings or kit. I asked napa and they said it was flat on 2 sides so a round one will not work does any one know if these were round to start? Its a thompson pump

Magman:

Using Krazy"s info, I google searched 580 Quad ring and the 1st site in the sponsored area is for small parts dot com, listing 188 sizes double sealing surface in stock. Clicked on it, looks like if you have the dimensions, it may be what you are looking for ??

Try Spencer Industries in Kent Washington. They had the kit (NLA through IH) for the 130 pump that was on my Super C. Couldn't hurt to ask. 253-395-3701.

Dunno Jon, but I'm gonna find out.

The pump on my M didn't make the maiden voyage and is leaking into the crankcase big time.

Larry down in Texas is sending me another used one, so I'm gonna take 'er apart and re-seal before I swap 'em out.

We'll see how this goes. Hmmmmm m..... ..

Why wouldn't a round neopreme o ring work if it is the right diameter and thickness it will squash down and seal.

ejr, that was my theroy too.

I still don't have hydraulic pressure with the replacement pump! I know that the groove around the opening is in fact square faced so the appropraite sized o ring lacks sufficient volume to completely fill the space when the fitting is tightened. If some one has a source of flatsided o rings I sure would give them a try on the next rebuild. Dick Davis

I know of no "O"ring grooves that are U shaped. The ring must deform, so it needs the corners of the groove to do so. Orings can be manufactured to any size from stock. THe metric, and special purpode seals from National Seal can be found to do almost any retro fit. JimN

I had a similar experience with a hydralic pump
on a super-A--I was told that it's called a
"sguare O ring " --finally found one @ an IHC
dearlership that had been in business for years-
They happened to have an old one in stock--Said
they were no longer available--Surely, something
else will work--If you find anything, please get back as I'd like to have an extra (s)--Glynn
