A Burns Oil Sometimes??

I have an "A" that has run great and has not burned oil in the past however; lately once in a while it will be running fine then all at once blue oil smoke pours out of the exhaust for a couple of minutes then it just goes away and goes back to running fine and not burning any oil. Other than this problem the tractor is a great runner and has no other problems.

I am stumped, I need to hear from the experts on this one.

Possible plugged or restricted drain back in head? If a connecting rod has a little twist in it the rings will walk around the grooves and occasionaly the end gaps of the rings will line up and smoke. Then they rotate some more and it goes away.
The older and more worn the engine, the more noticable it will become, as the end gaps on the rings gets wider.

It may need new seals on the valves or new valve guides. Hal
