I have a Farmall Super A and I"m trying to figure out what year it is. Wondering if anyone could shed some light on this.

Can I tell if its a true Super A by the serial number also? I'm 99% sure it is but it doesn't hurt to check.

Super As have Hydraulic Touch Control, Heavy duty Rear Fenders and a Square Instrument Panel which is the rear cover of the Battery Box. If the engine is original, the engine serial number may match the chassis. The engine serial number should be located on the top, right edge of the block. A letter at the end of the casting codes on the major castings indicate year. 1947-1954 = Q,R,S,T,W,X,Y,Z. U and V not used.

Is the ID plate still in place on the right side of the left hand seat support?

If so, the serial number will be stamped on the plate, and you can look it up in the "Research and Info" section listed at the LH side of this page.

If no plate there, the build date can be estimated by the casting date codes on various components of the tractor, or from the engine serial number on the front upper right side of the engine block.

UNDER THE SEAT ON THE LEFT SIDE SHOULD BE THE SERIAL NUMBER THATS WHAT IS NEEDED TO FIND THE YEAR
