crankshaft theory question

I had to replace my crankshaft because my machinist found a crack when he magna-fluxed it. I also noticed, when they were out, that both the belt pulley and flywheel were balanced via 'drillings'. My question is whether crackshafts are balanced with those two items in place, as a trio, and whether people who are totally compulsive get this redone when they get a new-used crank. (Which I'm not)
(And which I won't)
(Unless somebody says my engine will cannonade)
(Adn then I still probably won't)

Many of the 4cylinder IH engines are ballanced only because the parts are moving in opposite directions at the same time. Two pistons up, (on the ends) and twodown (#2-3) This is intrensically ballanced, as long as the pistons, and rods are all the same WT. The aluminum pistons weigh substantially less than the cast iron (earlier) pistons. Even so, no crankshaft ballancing is required. So there is no crankshaft ballance related to the Flywheel, or Pulley. They are ballanced individually, with no regard to their effect on the crank. JimN

They are not done as a unit. The flywheel and pulley are balanced on a mandrel.
