I remove the two bolts from the engine block and thought the oil pump would drop out. I tapped it lightly with a hammer and it still didn't come lose. What am I missing.

The top part of the oil pump is a fairly good fit in the crankcase, it is the oil supply for the motor. Try turning the bottom of the pump from side to side while pulling down on it.

Turn the engine over slightly. The oil pump has gears that mesh sometime they are stuck. Basically if you have removed the two bolts it should come out. I just recently had mine out and had the same problem until I turne the engine.

I just changed one about a week ago, two bolts in the block and it came out. Yours must just be stuck good.
