I have had a crash course in tractor hydraulics 101. I completly tore these down to the bare essentials. I found that moisture can and will get into the detent assembly. I glass bead blasted all small parts and used Teflon assembly grease liberaly on this upon re-assembly. Sorry, no before pictures, but trust me, it was funky.

Re-assembly went together well after stoning the sides of the housing and deep cleaning in a bucket of diesel. All new o-rings and $75.00 worth of CNH parts to restore the detent assemblies (CR-steel balls, springs, unlatching pistons, ect). I decided to trash the banjo fittings and use ORB to JIC. I hope this is an upgrade. Has anyone done this conversion before?

Enjoy the pictures. Also, I have found the TC-88 parts manual to be invaluable!

I have two more valves and an end plate that I may recondition and list on EBAY. I can notify ya'll if interested when I list them. Contrary to the pictures, I cleaned the "work environment" before assembly and wore latex gloves. Can never be too clean with hydraulics!

Thanks for all the help with this 1962, 504 D so far.

Charles

Just a word of caution, you may already know this. DO NOT over tighten the three bolts that go thru the valves. The torque spec is 25 ft-lb I think. Use a torque wrench on these. Doesn't seem tight enough, but too tight and the spool may bind. BTDT.

Thanks, for the torque spec. I once over-tightened the mounting bolts and got the spools in a bind. I am going with new grade 8 bolts and I will use my Proto to torque. I will list pictures when I finish painting and installing.

You did a great job on those valves!
