I'm in the process of restoring an F-14. The cylinder head for this engine is shot. I have a spare head but the part # is for an F-12. What's the difference? Mounting studs for the valve cover? Compression? I know there is a difference between the F-12 and the F-14 as far as power, RPM, PTO gears, governor settings/springs, timing, etc. To satisfy the "tractor police", I would like to be as correct as possible. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

My '37 F-12 has 3 studs for the valve cover (I am pretty sure.) As did the 2 replacements until I found a crack-free one.

One difference in the heads is the combustion chamber on one version (I think gasoline only version)is partially filled to increase compression.

I know of least two pistons for different compression ratios too. Not sure what the possible combinations are...

Dont worry about satifying anybody but yourself.Parts book only shows 2 heads,so they will interchange, but the hed on my 14 is no different than the head on a 12, and I know it was never changed in its lifetime.

The heads will interchange. The F-14 head was higher compression.

(The field upgrade package included a cylinder head.)

I think the difference in the F-14 head is the compression is higher than a F-12 head, but I don't remember for sure. You can still use that cylinder head and have more compression.

I know the heads will swap. I was under the impression the difference in the F-12 versus the F-14 was a change in RPM, giving the F-14 200 more RPM and the equilivant of 2 more HP. The F-12's could be "cranked" up in RPM to achieve this. When they started making the F-14's, this new RPM, HP at the belt pulley, and drawbar was incorporated as well as adding the breather to the valve cover. To be politically correct the F-12 uses a two stud valve cover and the F-14 uses a three stud valve cover. Is this the only difference? Or is it vice versa???

i think the cobustion camber is a little diffrent on the f-14, to give it a little more compresion. but i think they will swap.
