This is my first posting here. Recently purchased a 52 Super M. Brakes don't work well and have a leak from the frame behind the brake housing. Before I pull the brake I wanted to have the replacement gasket and seal. I've looked at the IH Case site but can not find the part numbers. Would appreciate part numbers and good supplier for these parts.

Mike - You are looking for a "bull pinion shaft seal", IHC part #358 896 R91. I believe the SKF equivalent seal number is 22446. Any industrial bearing supply distributor (Kaman, etc) should have 'em or another mfr's equivalent. And it will be cheaper than from the IHC dealer too.

Note that the replacement seal will be about 1/2 as thick as the original (leather) seal. However the thinner seal fit and work fine.

For the gasket I've had good luck using red silicone gasket maker in place of the pre-cut gasket.

Look again, the part numbers are there. Also the seals probably aren't listed on the same page as the brakes. What you want is a "bull pinion shaft oil seal". It is listed in the rear axle differential section.

Thanks for the quick reply. Guess I didn't see that it was lised under the rear axle assembly.
Looks like my closest IH dealer is about 60 miles away.

Any bearing place, perhaps even NAPA can get that seal, nothing special about it, it will cross to a Chicago Rawhide or National number. Otherwise Carter and Grunewald, a Case-IH dealer in WI can get you one in 2-3 days 866-327-6255. They ship that size part Priority Mail.

I really appreciate your help. I have purchased some gaskets from NAPA already. I may give them a try first. There only 5 miles away. I have 4 or 5 leaks to take care of. The next one is the lift - all, It leaks pretty steady every time I start the tractor.
