When original there was several small things different between a farmall 400 and 450. After all the years have past some have parts switched around. If worried about being near completely original you will have to look at the whole package. If you don't know very much about them the best way may be to look at date codes on all major castings. Here is a example of what they look like, 4-15-C, there's usually a raised place between numbers and letters. First letter is month and second the day of casting. Letter represents the year. Letter for 450 years will be B,C or D. If you have castings with a B and the tractor serial # is higher than 26067, tractor would be a 400. Also if higher than 26067 it would be a 400 reguardless. So if you have B,C or D date codes and a serial # lower than 26067 its a 450. Some 400 had the bigger gas tank so you can't alway go by that. Few things a 450 has originaly is a key switch down below gauge panel and a push button starter switch, All plastic covered steering wheel including spokes with a plastic center cap. One thing I have never found switched on chassis is on the very bottom of cluch pedal below pivot point a 400 uses a set bolt with lock nut to limit cluch pedal travel. 450 tractors won't have a bolt there. You didn't say if tractor was gas or diesel, if there's a question about engine being original post back.

450 has a bigger gas tank, the bottom is deeper on the 450. Makes it easy to tell the difference.

Other than the paint scheme, the engine has 4-5 more HP -- 281 cu in vs 264. I think there are changes in the hydraulics and other minor differences. Otherwise the same tractor. The 450 is an upgraded 400, the 400 an upgraded Super M, etc.
