Hey Hugh, glad to hear that you have gotten that lower pulley installed. Sometime they can be a bear!! I am like you, don't like using too much heat or WILL NOT beat on anything going on the end of a crankshaft. If you think about it, there is only on thrust bearing and everytime ya hit something like that pulley, you are just jamming the crank right back into the thrust bearing and damaging it. Also I have seen crankshafts become fractured from beating a pulley on and then fail"break" down the road. Also I do not like excessive heat on anything!!

As you remember I am a big on using some sort of a hydraulic press "an even constant pressure".

The picture I posted on installing pulley, I used spare engine friend had, just to demo my method for someone awhile back. There are some hydraulic jacks that will work laying on their side, BUT I use a Porta Power myself.

By the way did not see your earlier post as this is Spring break here And the EX let me have my daughter for the week. And also trying to get everything organized for next week, start of Special Olympic track season, being the coach for Powerlifting, I help with track also.

Anyway sure glad ya gotter done...

Keith & Shawn(Special Olympic Gold medal)

Keith: The two jacks I have both had warnings not to use them horizontal. I had experience with a couple others years ago. I just happened to have the 1" fine thread bolt with about 4" of thread. I've had it for 25 years, first time I ever found a use for it.

I never intended to paint a tractor this winter. Back at Christmas time I set out to replace the seals in my Woods mower spindles. Decided since I had it all apart, I'd get the deck sand blasted and paint it. Mower looked so good mid Jan., I thought this is going to make the tractor look damn shabby. I stripped every thing down to bare castings of engine, transmission, rear end and final drives. Didn't open those castings, the only leak I had was crank seal. Basically cleaned and painted every piece that bolts on the outside of those castings.

I don't mind doing mechanical repairs, but can tell you this is my first and last paint job.

Keith: If you make the trip east with an M, the LOL will be on you. I don't know if you noticed but I have my 130 for sale. I'm convinced I should sell it before I decide it looks shabby along side the SA and 140.

There is another problem though, no body is going to give me what I want for it. So, someday I will buy a new set of rear rims, grill insert and a engine kit, then it will definitely need painting.
