anyone have the paper instructions on how to overhaul / change & install the orings in the Touch Control block? A, SA,C, SC, 100, 200 should all be similar enough to work. The IH parts manual pictures aren't specific enough for me.

Like do you pull the allen-head bolts out of the cover plate ? What's behind those allen-head bolts ? Is anything spring-loaded that's going to jump out at me, then I don't know where it came from, or which end goes in first ?

Here is a link to an online manual for rebuilding the Touch Control units.

Couv, if you're talking about the inch-thick head on the rear, here's what sits behind it, and no, nothing jumps out at you, though you'll notice the one large and two very small springs.

What you WILL have to do is be VERY careful to make sure that everything goes back exactly from where it came, and in exactly the proper order. Some things come out the rear, but some come out the front, necessitating the removal of the rockshaft assembly, brackets, etc. These bottom boots hide the control valves which come out the front.

Mine has a cover plate on the bottom, (others have one on top), which reveals this...

...and I took out all the allen-head plugs before getting the block cleaned, and I was glad I did, because at least one had a bunch of gummy stuff above it.

Finally, here's a pic of most of what comes out the rear, front, and bottom.

Some of the parts are hard to remove from their bores because of the o-rings. I've kept all the pictures I took, so if you're going to go ahead and jump into this, keep asking questions, or check the archives.

If you search this board,lately-last 2-4 weeks there has been excellent detailed discussion and several photos and good tips to make your life much easier.
I had completed mine on my 140 before this documentation was available.
You should start by getting the IH Blue Ribbon manual for touch control service part # GSS-1024or 1027-(cant remember)-contact Binder Books they can help you.
As far as allen head bolts the only ones I encountered were after removing the bottom cover.
What i did was draw a diagram of the block assigning each removed part a number and placed that part in a zip lock bag with the corresponding number(a**l retentive-yes. Lost parts-no)and everthing goes back to its original hole.
Nothing will jump out at you. Just move slowly and you will see whats going on.

There was a detailed post on this a couple of weeks ago--it will be in the archives. You need the Case-IH kit, I think it has instructions. However, the job is not that complex, I don't believe you need to remove anything that does not unscrew without a lot of effort. Just replace the parts that are in the kit. I did one about 6 years ago. Hardest part was getting the head off.

Just to add to the experience, the only thing as hard as gettin' the head off was cleaning off the head gasket. 8<)
