I need a new battery for my IH 154 Cub Lo-boy but am having no luck finding one that fits properly. I have been using an Interstate SP-22NF. It fits in the tray ok with the cover on. The problem is that I had to notch the water covers ( 3 cells together like on a car) to get the terminals on. I need about 5/8" between the terminal and water cover. I would like to get a battery that either has 6 individual water covers like the origional or one with smaller 3 cell covers so notching wouldn't be necessary. I have 2 year old IH battery cables. Thanks!!

Go get yourself a regular old lawn mower battery, change your ends on your cables and youre good to go. Only thing extra I had to do was to cut some "wooden" shim to keep the battery in place. IT WILL WORK!

Go to Walmart with your battery measurements. Most modern style batteries sold today don't allow you to add water anyway. They are usually flat topped without the covers that stick up. They call them maintenance free. If you have two covers covering three cells each, then 2X3=6 cells at 2 volts each = a 12 volt battery. I don't see too many of that old style battery around anymore. Get as many CCAs as you can. (cold cranking amps)

So just what is a water cover or do you mean the battery caps that screw on and off for adding water. Then you say 6 covers that would mean a 12v batt. With 3 covers makes it a 6v batt.

I need a 12 volt battery. The origional OEM battery had 6 cells with 6 individual covers. The Interstate battery I have been using also has 6 cells but with only 2 covers ( 3 cells covered by a 1 piece cover).
