I have an IH-1466 Diesel, over time it seems to have lost pressure. I have a 3pt wood splitter and I was unable to split wood with it this morning. A couple of weeks ago, it seemed to be losing pressure. Is it time for a new hydraulic pump? Looking at the parts manual, there seems to be several listed, how do I tell what one I have? I have a cab and it is hard to see, shop manual is not very good.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

Walt

Thanks, I will pull off the pump. Looks like the part number is stamped on the inside.

Before you order a pump, take the old one out, and look at the o-ring that is between the pump mounting plate and the rear end casting. They can slowly go bad, start leaking, and then finally blow out, giving you no hyd. pressure.

Allan in NE has pictures of his fix for this problem!

My tractor was used when I bought it. I could hear those hydraulics "singing" under the seat; just knew something wasn't right because it shouldn't make that high-pitched noise.

Second year on the plow and it got to the point that I had to have the engine wound clear up before it would lift the plow.

Okay, I go buy a new pump and this is what I find. Anyone need a good used pump? :>)

Two pictures of the difficulity and one of how I fixed it.

Allan, would this apply to most or all of the IH and Farmalls with the hydraulic pump bolted onto the side of the tractor (ie: Farmall 504). My 504 has to have the throttle gapped pretty good to make my loader raise, lowers fine. The other valve will roll the bucket both directions at fair idle. I have the hydraulic valves tore down on my bench right now, I did not try switching hoses first (dumb).

On one valve I found the un-latching piston frozen in place and the detent balls pitted. Also the detent balls spring is broken and the centering spring actuator is rusted and pitted. Searching CNH Parts right now.

I bought 2 used valves off Ebay for $230 shipped. I hope I can make two good ones and have a spare. I have enough o-rings for 4. I am going to make a new post...

Thanks
