I got the 484 together today and bled the air out of the fuel filters but cant get any fuel out of the injection pump. The fuel shutoff is in the run position.

How much cranking does it take before the fuel should come out? I dont want to damage the pump.

JB2 has it right..the I-H's of that era were designed to give more fuel by holding the fuel shut off open about halfway..this helps in cold weather starts by inducing more fuel..my 584 will start on the coldest day without being plugged in or without ether..once it starts to fire you have to pull the shut off open or it starts to flood and puff blacksmoke

Michael, put the fuel shut off in the START position, throttle 1/3 to 3/4 open. Did you try pressurizing the fuel tank? Do you have the injector lines connected? Just leave the nuts at the back of the pump loose. After about 30 seconds of cranking there should be fuel coming out the injector nuts. Tighten 2 of the three and tractor should start on 2 cyl.

Don't over heat the starter by cranking engine for long periods of time.

I tried the throttle at 1/2 open and then full open and nothing. I had all the injector lines loose. Ill bleed the filters again today and put some air in the tank to try to force it out. My battery was dead yesterday but I still cranked it over longer then 30 seconds. I charged the battery overnight and put a heater under the tractor so Ill try it after lunch.
