Threading my choke rod

I'm ready to put my "new" choke rod on my H, but I'm not sure where it goes through right after the control panel. From pictures I have seen, from the carb it goes behind the air pipe, behind the battery box in some way, but that's all I've seen. I'm sure I have to avoid the sediment bowl. But where does it go through the gas tank mount, or does it? There is a small hole for the belt pulley control to go through, but doesn't look big enough for both?

Pictures of that specific area would really help out.

I suppose I could send you some pictures. But I'd have to plug my computer into the PC, download them, etc., etc., ect. But I suppose in the name of progress I might do that for you tonight or over the weekend. Boy you are a lot of trouble for a guy who lives so far away. :)

Mike, looking at my 51 H (lets look from the controll panel forward) through the hole above the pully lever, through the rear tank mount above and left of the pully leaver is a half in. dia. hole, through that, then on the right side of the sediment bowl, then there is a small ear on the left side of the front tank mount with a small hole in it, through that (you won"t be able to go through it with the ninety deg. bend at the carb, would have to be streight then bend it later) then behind the air cleaner to the carb. Hope this will help. New poster to the sight, love it, amazing people on here.

Tom

Ok, so it is through that hole. I'll go with that. But now I've seen one through the fuel line hole, and a couple out to the side of that. What is the majority? I'm interested in hearing from H owners on where theirs is.

Mike, it is supposed to go through that hole. Lots of folks over the years knew enough to take 'em apart, but didn't know enough to put 'em back together, so that choke rod ended up in many strange places. I even had one where someone ran the choke rod right up the side of the tractor and through a hole they drilled in the headlight bar. What a mess that one was.

Mike,

Randy's '50 H shows the choke rod thru the hole directly above the belt pulley hole. My '49 H is the same.

I think my rod had quite a few bends in it ; )

I will look at the 49 H tonite and get some pics if you don't get an answer.

Randy, that's the first one I've seen through that gas line hole. Do you remember if it worked well through there? Seems to me there may be a lot of binding through there.

Randy, the one pic you have of the choke rod connected to the carb does look correct, but beyond where it goes through the front tank support is anybodys guess.
