I have the tranny cover off and need to replace one of the seals to the real axle. However, I am finding it very difficult to get the 4 bolts out of the retainingthat hold the bearing and seal in. I have been looking at the situation and have decided if I removed the axle housing I could replace the seal. There just is not enoug room to get a socket of wrench on the bolts that hold that retaining ring. Any advice would be appreciated. The bearing seems to be ok.

I just did both sides on my Super C. I did take the axle carriers off, and it was very easy to do on the bench.

They are heavy, and you upset the balance when you remove one side, so make sure you have everything braced properly.

I did replace the bearings while I was in there. Both sides (inners & outers) were around $200 for all 4 at Bearing Distributors Inc.

Take a good look around while you've got the lid off.

Good luck

Doug
