questions about Super C rockshafts

I've been working on rebuilding the Touch Control hydraulic block for my Super C. After cleaning 50 years of grease and crud off the rockshafts, I have questions:
1) Is this gap between the front and rear rockshaft arms normal ?
1a) Should I fill the gap with shims ? a felt seal ?
2) What are the little eyes for on the arms ? There are two on each outer and one on the inners.

the little holes in the arm are for cultivators, you can lift the fronts and then you can lift your fast hitch for the rears.

That gap is not unusual,the inner rockshaft arm is part of a through shaft that works with the Touch Control cylinder. The outer arm is attached to the shaft that works the opposite side arm.the arm is tapered and keyed,as others have stated,sometimes the arm is loose on the shaft,and gives wear in the key-The retaining nut is 1 7/16" socket size.Those "ears you refered to as #2,are for implements like a planter or fertilizer unit "Throw-in or out" for C"s and SA"s,as arms are the same.Sc with Fast hitch will use a different arm.

I thought the little bit of play "front to back--up & down" was a little play at the lifting cylinders.

Could be, Brownie.
But I took a closer look at mine. The key on the right rockarm is significantly looser in it's keyways than the left. Since it's loose in both the arm and the shaft, I'm hoping a new key will do it. Haven't done the critical measuring yet though.

Greg, on my super-A, the shaft under that outer rock-arm is tapered, (and keyed). If that end nut were to be loose, I think that outer arm could be worked back and forth. Thus, that arm may be on there as far as it's going to go, and there's nothing to fix.

I have a different problem with mine. Either the key or the keyway has been worn, and the arm moves back and forth a bit. I have to figure out how to fix that- I'm afraid it'll shear the key.

I had one outer arm that was a little loose too. The innermost thread was gummed up and would not let the nut thread all the way on. I did not have the die that big nor a coarse enough thread file to clean it up. Adding a thin washer under the nut brought it up tight. If the tapers are clean and dry, they should just about hold the arm without a key.

What I meant was, if the nut is tight, that arm is on as far as it's going to go, since the shaft is tapered.

I'll have to look, about that 'eye'. I'm at work, and I don't remember seeing those on mine.

That little bit of gap won't hurt anything,it'll fill up with grease when you grease it.
