I have a IHC 303 combine that was overhauled about 3 years ago and parked the year after that, but the combine itself is just about wore out. I also have a 656 gas tractor that has a blown motor in it. Would this combine motor tansplant into this tractor? Looking for some expereinced help here. I think the combine motor is the BD221 and the tractor is a 263.

If you combine is an early 303 it should have a BD220 engine. Later ones had the C221. If the governor looks the same as your tractor, then it is the later engine. The BD series engines are truck engines and though the look pretty much the same, they are not too interchangeable. The problem will be with the governor and front cover. The bolts on the front of the block are different sizes. The timing gears are different so I do not know if you could make the tractor governor work. If it is a C221, the crankshafts are different. The tractor will have a longer stroke. The C 221 would be an engine for a 460.
